Here are the very beautiful new wines by The Devil Is A Liar.

The Devil Is A Liar

November 14, 2022

One of the unique wine brands in Washington State, The Devil Is A Liar (TDIAL) was created by winemaker Seth Kitzke to be an ultra-premium label that focuses on wines made from WeatherEye Vineyard fruit. Seth has made quite a name for himself with his beautiful and also very well-priced wines under his label UpsideDown Wine, which is wife Audrey helps run as well. TDIAL wines are geared to display intensity and flamboyance — they are not for the weary. I think that they beautifully showcase this site, which is set high on the northern slope of Red Mountain.

A new wine that is sensational new, the 2019 The Devil is A Liar ‘Shooting In The Gym’ Grenache (OB, 94) is very brooding in the glass as it displays very pretty red fruits with lots of earthy nuance. Even better is the 2019 ‘The Devil Is A Liar’ Red Wine (OB, 95) which is a super unique field blend and has downright killer aromatics and sensational mouthfeel and tension. This beauty belongs in the cellar of any serious collector of Washington Wine. Learn more at http://thedevilisaliarwine.com and here are my reviews of the new TDIAL wines.

2019 The Devil is A Liar ‘Shooting In The Gym’ Grenache- Sourced from mostly block 15 in the WeatherEye Vineyard, this had 70% whole cluster fermentation before being stored in neutral oak (second use) before bottling. Very pure and pretty on the nose with guava puree, red currants, yarrow and shades of blood orange zest all combine on the nose. The palate is very refined and soft with silky tannins that line a core of beautiful red fruits with Mandarin orange zest and red rose water accents. Drink 2022-2030- 94

2019 The Devil Is A LIar ‘The Devil Is A Liar’ Red Wine- A field blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Viognier, this shows off beautiful white florals from the Grenache with worn leather, red cherry, cigar ash, green peppercorns and smoked meats on the nose. The palate is soft and seamless, with great viscosity and verve, alongside a serious underlying mouth-watering acidity. This is complex, novel and delicious, one of a kind, wine. Enjoy now and over the next ten years. Drink 2022-2032- 95
