Starting only one year ago, Tirriddis began as a project with three friends —Andrew Gerow, Matthew Doutney, and Gabriel Crowell — who were all completing their degree in Viticulture & Enology at WSU Tri-Cities. The name, Tirriddis, derives from Tirage, Riddle, and Disgorge - the three steps to naturally produce sparkling wines. Focused solely on this traditional method, they use unique "non-traditional" styles to emphasize Washington's world class growing environment.
It is not easy to make method-champenoise sparkling wine but these three have thrived amongst the pressure of their first releases. I really enjoyed the NV Tirriddis Brut Rose No. 2 (OB, 90) which is fresh and vibrant with a very pretty red fruit profile.
