What a pleasure it is to share the new Andrew Januik wines. The son of eminent winemaker Mike Januik, Andrew Januik has now been making wine for over a decade. He studied under his father after studying at University of Washington and creates a dense and rich style for his own label, from warmer locations in Washington. I have been really impressed with his namesake project.
Tasting with Andrew, he was very excited to present wines from 2022 which had a later harvest and was slightly cooler. I love the new 2022 Andrew Januik ‘Lady Hawk’ Cabernet Sauvignon (OB, 94) which has terrific depth and concentration, with good structure. Check out more about these beautiful wines at https://www.noveltyhilljanuik.com/wines/andrew-januik/ Here are my tasting notes from the new Andrew Januik wines.
2022 Andrew Januik ‘Los Molinos’ Red Wine- The 2022 ‘Los Molinos’ is a GSM inspired wine coming from the Columbia Valley. Bacon fat, green peppercorns and iodine fill the nose alongside rich dark fruits. The palate is silky and refined with good elegance, texture and sense of weight. Enjoy now and over the next eight to ten years. Drink 2025-2033- 93

Creme de cassis, anise, dark chocolate and graphite all fill the palate with excellent volume. Great now, enjoy over the next fifteen years. Drink 2025-2040- 94
2022 Andrew Januik ‘Doppelgänger’ Cabernet Sauvignon- The 2022 ‘Doppelgänger’ comes from the Andrews Vineyard in the Horse Heaven Hills. This site is cropped at only 2 tons per acre. This is dense and delicious stuff with chocolate fudge, crushed mint, espresso grounds and shades of tar on the palate with sweet pipe tobacco notes. The beautiful dark florals up front are outstanding. Drink 2025-2040- 94
