Wine of the week: 2012 Chateau St. Michelle ‘Indian Wells’ Cabernet
From a great vintage in Washington, this wine is a perennial great value Cabernet. . . and St. Michelle's 2012 effort is no exception. The Indian Wells vineyard is located on the Wahluke Slope in Eastern Washington. The vines planted here are getting better and better with age. The resultant Cabernet is rich and concentrated, because of the heat produced in the 2012 vintage. If you are a fan of rich Washington Cabernet, you would be hard pressed to find a better Cab for the price. I seriously think this wine drinks like a 30 dollar bottle of Cab. Look for this wine at most Northwest area grocery stores, like QFC, Safeway and Fred Meyer. You can also find this wine at Costco.
2012 Chateau St. Michelle ‘Indian Wells’ Cabernet- Toasted oak with cloves, vanilla and blackberry on the nose. Palate has nice depth and richness in this balanced wine. Flavors of black olive, blackberry and chocolate. Excellent stuff. Drink now or cellar for 1-2 years. -91
