A few minutes ago I just finished up an Instagram Live and started my tasting flight. Something tells me I am in for a really good one today, starting with this wine by Table Eleven. A few days ago I met up with co-founder Nicholas Mahigian and chatted about his history in the wine industry. I love the story behind this small winery project as Nicholas met his wife at ‘table eleven’ at his friend’s restaurant.
Winemaker Joey Gummere has been making wines since 1997. In 1999, he joined the team of Santa Barbara County winemaking legend, Bryan Babcock, and then founded his own project, Kenneth-Crawford, in partnership with fellow winemaker Mark Horvath. Joey also worked at Santa Barbara Winery and Lafond Winery & Vineyards. I only tried one of their releases but it was sensational, coming from the esteemed ‘La Encantada Vineyard’ their 2018 Table Eleven ‘La Encantada Vineyard’ Pinot Noir (OB, 92) which sings with its silky texture, wonderful verve and layers of bright red fruits. 2018 Table Eleven ‘La Encantada Vineyard’ Pinot Noir- A whiff of saline drenched earth really entices as the core of dark raspberry and cherry cola really entice on the nose. The palate is fresh, round and generous with a silky texture. Very pretty guava puree and red cherry candy collide with minerals and cola flavors on the palate. Medium to full-bodied with good richness and elegance, this outstanding new Pinot Noir will drink well over the next eight to ten years. Drink 2020-2028- 92
