Great photos of Charles Mignon, a grower house that shows the beauty of Pinot Meunier.

Charles Mignon

December 28, 2022

Over the past decade I have really enjoyed the wines by Charles Mignon — a Champagne house that exudes both top quality and value. Now spanning generations, the Mignon family comes from a line of winegrowers native from Mesnil-le-Huttier, a little hamlet of Festigny, a village located a few kilometres away from Epernay. The Vallée de la Marne vineyard runs alongside Côte des Blancs, well-known for the quality of its Chardonnay. Champagne Charles Mignon has vines at the heart of the Great Growth village of Chouilly. Like Champagne Krug, Charles Mignon has been a champion of Pinot Meunier for years and typically blends a large percentage into their entry level wine (55%). The Pinot Meunier provides the depth of this wine, as well as the lovely fruity tones. I love the new NV Charles Mignon ‘Premium Reserve’ Brut Champagne (OB, 92) which is deep and rich, providing a downright killer value for the price (usually 40-50 USD). With its concentration and fleshy style, this drinks more like a great vintage Champagne than their entry level wine. Learn more about this outstanding small house at https://www.champagne-mignon.fr/ and here is my review of the new wine by Charles Mignon.

NV Charles Mignon ‘Premium Reserve’ Brut Champagne- You can’t help but adore the new NV Charles Mignon ‘Premium Reserve’ Brut Champagne which is comprised of 55% Pinot Meunier with 20% Pinot Noir, and 25% Chardonnay sourced from a range of sites that span the Marne Valley. Aged on the lees for more than 18 months, this offers wild strawberry and cantaloupe flavors alongside a silky texture, nutty undertones and wonderful veil of salinity. Crisp and clean, with almost an oily texture, enjoy the beauty now and over the next decade. Drink 2022-2032- 92
