Today we share the brilliant wine of Beatus which is a magical collaboration between winemaker Todd Alexander and Anne-Charlotte of Chateau de la Font Du Loup. Anne-Charlotte Mélia Bachas is the fourth generation winemaker in the Mélia family. Soils at this 20 hectare site are quite diverse, having a large portion of sand and also cobblestone material. The stones range considerably in size here, from small pebbles to larger cobblestones.
Todd Alexander has crated another ebullient wine here. The 2023 Beatus Chateauneuf du Pape (OB, 96) is dense and shows a fantastic purity of red fruits. This is hedonistic and highly pleasurable stuff that shows beautiful salty accents and depth. 2023 Beatus Chateauneuf du Pape- A stunning wine from the 2023 vintage, this Beatus comes from the Chateau de la Font Du Loup estate vineyard. A dizzying nose greets you with red rose petals and potpourri notes alongside tobacco leaf, worn leather and salted red currants. The palate is fresh and viscous with terrific viscosity and freshness. This is seamless throughout the drinking experience, with bright red fruits and salted Mandarin orange zest, alongside stony nuances. Enjoy this delicious, tension-filled Chateauneuf and over the next ten plus years. Drink 2025-2038- 96
