It is my deepest pleasure to present one of the great Rose wines of the Pacific Northwest. The Long Shadows ‘Julia’s Dazzle’ is one of the consistently great Rose wines out of Washington and I have been so impressed with this wine since its inception. And I am the first critic to taste the 2024 edition.
Last winter I tasted with Long Shadows Director of Winemaking, Gilles Nicault, who talked about the potential of the warm 2024 vintage. He has once again made a spectacular Rose. The 2024 Long Shadows ‘Julia’s Dazzle’ Rose (OB, 93) is very polished and light on its feet with a beautiful purity of red fruit flavors. This is best tasted at a slightly warmer temperature. At under 20 bucks this is a killer value — the 2023 ‘Dazzle' is truly one of the best value Rose wines Pacific Northwest Rose market. 2024 Long Shadows ‘Julia’s Dazzle’ Rose- With just the slightest kiss of sweetness, the astonishingly good 2024 Long Shadows ‘Julia’s Dazzle’ Rose was aged in stainless steel prior to bottling. Now released, the wine has incredible viscousity, tension and flavor density. Nearly all Pinot Gris, this delivers beautiful guava puree and bright cranberry tones on the palate that meld well with Satsuma orange zest, a dash of white pepper and loads of rich cantaloupe and honeydew melon. Fresh and vibrant, showing great nerve on the tongue, enjoy this delicious and satisfying Rose now and over the next few years. Drink 2025-2031- 93
