It is my pleasure to share the wines of Quilceda Creek. I visited the winery a few days back and was able to grab some awesome harvest footage. The fruit that they were processing looks impeccable from this vintage. Paul Golitzin is one of North America’s great winemakers, and has been in charge of Quilceda Creek winemaking now for decades. His winemaking style is pure class, crafting wines with his signature silky texture with serious viscosity and favor density captivates the senses.
I’m honored to be the first critic to taste the 2023 Quilceda Creek ‘CVR’ Red Wine. This has consistently been one of the top values in Washington wine. The new edition of this wine, the 2023 ‘CVR’ (OB, 95) is a notch better than the ’22, with a pillowy mouthfeel and loaded with dense dark fruits alongside plenty of nuance. You are gonna love this wine! Learn more about these incredible wines at quilcedacreek.com and here is my review of the amazing 2023 ‘CVR’ pre-release wine by Quilceda Creek.
2023 Quilceda Creek ‘CVR’ Red Wine- This 2023 edition of the ‘CVR’ is 84% Cabernet Sauvignon with 8% Cabernet Franc blended in from the Champoux Vineyard with 5% Merlot and the remainder Petit Verdot. This benefited considerably from a long decant, offering black rose petal aromatics that combine with shades of anise, dark currants, pencil lead and sweet pipe tobacco. The palate is soft and elegant with a silky mouthfeel and great sense of weight — showing off the warmth of the vintage. This shows slightly better than the brilliant ’22. Drink 2025-2035- 95
