A great new winery based in Snohomish, Washington, Rush Lattin is a story based on a strong family spirit. Rush Lattin was a pioneer and artist that set alone on a mule in the late 1800's with a dangerous dream to capture the magnificent Yosemite Valley on canvas. This label is a sketch of that heirloom painting, an expression of Rush’s passionate purpose that guided him to capture a moment of beauty that since has been shared with generations.
Founded by Larry and Michelle Ransom, the winery makes a range of red wines from the Columbia Valley and Red Mountain. Winemaker Larry Ransom is somewhat new to the trade but has made a really nice set of wines from the excellent 2021 vintage. I really enjoyed the 2023 Rush Latttin Rose (OB, 90) which is neatly textured and shows good astringency. I love the 2021 Rush Lattin ‘Columbia Valley’ Syrah (OB, 92) which is dense and rich with delicious dark fruit flavors. 2023 Rush Lattin Rose- Made from Grenache grapes, this 2023 Rose offers a smooth sense of tension upon entry with bright red cherry and red raspberry notes alongside stony minerals. Enjoy now while the brightness remains intact. Drink 2024-2028- 90
2021 Rush Lattin ‘Red Mountain’ Grenache- Named ‘The Signet’ this 2021 Grenache is smooth and polished with bright pomegranate and red raspberry flavors alongside a soft texture and good deal of tension considering the warmth of the vintage. 2021 Rush Lattin ‘GSM’ Red Wine- This GSM inspired blend from 2021 is composed of equal parts Grenache and Mourvèdre with 30% Syrah. A beautiful spice rack nose, this shows off potpourri and exotic spices alongside rich red fruits and smoky accents. The palate is soft and polished with a smooth texture and great sense of balance between varietals. Drink 2024-2032- 92
2021 Rush Lattin ‘Columbia Valley’ Syrah- Inky in the glass, the 2021 Rush Lattin ‘Columbia Valley’ Syrah offers iodine, bacon fat and garrigue notes on the nose. The palate shows good polish with its sagebrush, milk chocolate and dense dark fruit flavors. This is really well-done stuff that is already beautifully evolved. Drink 2024-2032- 92
2021 Rush Lattin 'Old Faithful’ Red Wine- Mostly Cabernet Sauvignon (66%) with the remainder Syrah, this delivers good viscosity and richness with dense dark fruits and tobacco leaf flavors alongside shades of Black Forest Cake. 15.5% alcohol, this is not for the weary! Drink 2024-2032- 92
2021 Rush Lattin ‘Fiddler’s Bluff’ Syrah- The 2021 Rush Lattin ‘Fiddler’s Bluff’ Syrah is nicely posed but comes off leaner than the ‘Columbia Valley’ bottling with chocolate and blackberry notes on the palate. Medium-bodied, enjoy now. Drink 2024-2028- 90
