Emory's On Silver Lake Wine Dinner Featuring Pomum Cellars

May 29, 2014

Last night I had the chance to sample some of the best area food and wine at Emory's on Silver Lake. Emory's boasts one of the best wine lists in the Everett area and they have been doing wine dinners for a few years with great success. Last night they showcased Pomum Cellars, a winery that specializes in growing Spanish varietals, such as Tempranillo and Graciano, utilizing Columbia Valley terroir.
Pomum Cellars was started by winemaker Javier Alonso, who is originally from the Ribera del Duero region of Spain. Javier spoke last night about his journey to the US from Spain and how well Spanish varietals grow in Washington state. Pomum has another line called Idilico, that produces a very novel Albarino. The best wine I tried last night was their Bordeaux blend, which was sourced from some of the most famous vineyards in Washington, including DuBrul Vineyard and Elerding Vineyard. While the wines excelled last night, the food was even better. Particularly the slow roasted shortribs were melt in your mouth delicious.
Here are some of the wines that I sampled from Pomum Cellars:
