Bodega Norton is one of the most esteemed wineries in Argentina. Originally founded in 1895, many of the vines used for this blend are more than 50 years old. Particularly starting around 2000 there was a surge in quality of wine in Argentina, as wineries were producing the new hot wine for the world, Malbec. Recent accolades for the winery include their winemaker, Jorge Riccitelli, being named winemaker of the year by Wine Enthusiast magazine.
This wine is one of my favorite Red blends out of Argentina. The 2010 version really got it right. It is a blend of 40% Malbec, 30% Merlot and 30% Cabernet. Each varietal beautifully fits the puzzle. The wine readily available at most Northwest area Costcos. You can also find this wine at Total Wines. The 2011 version of this wine is not far off the pace of the 2010, as the 2011 received 93 points from Wine Enthusiast magazine.

2010 Bodega Norton Privada- This has improved with some cellaring. Deep rich hue with black cherry and anise on the nose. Palate is ft and viscous. But in a good way. Black cherry, vanilla, creme de cassis, dark chocolate and coffee on the palate. Very refined, drink now. -92
