Dwyane Wade is a tireless worker. Never satisfied and even after retirement Dwyane constantly visits the Napa Valley, as his new project Wade Cellars, is another fantastic success. Wade has his Cabernet Sauvignon crafted from the Oakville AVA and has visited the Napa Valley for many years.
An interest in wine is something that soon evolved into a passion for Dwyane. During his tenure in Miami he became more fueled by the food and wine he enjoyed with his teammates Chris Bosh and Lebron James. Following visits to Napa, he decided to finally start his own winery, which began with their 2014 release, looking to his friend Jayson Pahlmeyer for guidance. For over 30 years Jayson Pahlmeyer has produced beautiful Napa Valley wines.
Jon Keyes makes the wines for Wade Cellars. I had a great time tasting with him a few weeks back as he poured these wines as well as a beautiful range of wines. The 2018 Wade Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon (OB, 92) is an outstanding new wine with beautiful poise and fruit flavors. 2019 Wade Cellars Cabernet Sauvignon- Sourced from Oakville this 100% Cabernet Sauvignon delivers black tea and herbal undertones with green bell pepper and blackberry compote on the palate. Finishing long, this is really refined stuff that will drink well for at least another decade. Drink 2021-2033- 92
