One of the exciting newer properties that I have tasted over the past few months, Copia Vineyards relies on their estate vineyard on the westside of Paso Robles which was established in 2019. Currently 20 total acres are planted to Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre, Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Verdot. They also sourced from great outside vineyards such as Denner and Bien Naceido Vineyards.
Founded by Varinder Sahi and Anita Kothari who both had separate careers prior to starting their winery, Copia has impressed with their latest set of releases which focus on the 2018 vintage. They crafted a beautiful new 2020 Rose (OB, 90) which has a touch of sweetness and beautiful texture and bright acidity. I love the 2018 Copia ‘The Source’ Syrah (OB, 93) which is dense and inky — downright delicious to consume right now.
