A winery that began back in 2011 by Kim and Larry Harris, Bayernmoor Cellars is set in the Puget Sound AVA just east of Stanwood, Washington. Bayernmoor is a family-owned winery on over 100 acres of southern-facing slopes viewing Mount Rainier. At this site Pinot Noir is planted making for conditions that somewhat mirror the Willamette Valley. Bayernmoor Cellars sources from some of the state’s great vineyards for other wines including Klipsun, Celilo, Coyote Canyon, and Destiny Ridge Vineyards.
I really enjoyed these wines. With no doubt the best wine I tasted was the 2021 Bayernmoor Chardonnay (OB, 92) which was dense and delicious coming from one of the state’s esteemed sites, the Celilo Vineyard in the Columbia Gorge AVA. Learn more about this winery at https://bayernmoor.com/ and here are my reviews of the new Bayernmoor Cellars wines.
2021 Bayernmoor Chardonnay- Sourced from the Celilo Vineyard, this delightful 2023 Chardonnay offers brioche and nutmeg drenched golden delicious apple on the nose alongside shades of heavy whipping cream. The palate is rich and delicious with a soft mouthfeel and good sense of salinity. Enjoy now and over the next eight years. Drink 2024-2032- 92
2019 Bayernmoor Pinot Noir- Coming from their estate vineyard in the Puget Sound AVA, this 2019 Pinot Noir offers a soft texture with delicate red fruits and hints of black truffle. Novel and fairly lean, enjoy over the next few years. Drink 2024-2030- 90
2018 Bayernmoor Cabernet Sauvignon- Sourced from the Klipsun Vineyard, this 2018 Cabernet Sauvignon delivers rich blackberry and black currant flavors that combine with chocolate on the palate. Soft and nicely textured, enjoy now. Drink 2024-2030- 91
