What was formerly a line under the Ste. Michelle Portfolio, Ethos is Ste. Michelle Wine Estates new brand that focuses on high quality wines from the Columbia Valley. The program focuses on wines made from grapes grown at Ste Michelle’s estate’s vineyards and from grower partners across the Columbia Valley’s most notable AVAs. Winemaker Tristan Butterfield has a longstanding history in Washington wine, having a degree in physics from The University of Notre Dame before settling on Red Mountain working for Kiona Vineyards.
The new wine is outstanding, settling in nicely as the cool vintage 2022 Ethos (OB, 93) is glorious to consume now. Learn more at https://ethoswine.com/ and here is my review of the gorgeous new Ethos wine.
2022 Ethos Cabernet Sauvignon- A new release of the Ethos, this 2022 Cabernet Sauvignon was stored in new and neutral French and American oak barrels for 22 months before bottling and was sourced from Red Mountain, Horse Heaven Hills, and Wahluke Slope appellations, as well as the famed Cold Creek Vineyard. It comes off inky in the glass, delivering tar, sandalwood and dark currants on the nose with shades of black licorice. The palate is smooth and viscous with a terrific mouthfeel and great length. Enjoy now and over the next ten plus years. Drink 2025-2035- 93
