A sad day in the Washington Wine Industry today as we mourn the loss of Washington wine visionary, Allen Shoup. For years Allen served as CEO for Chateau Ste. Michelle, helping start iconic projects such as Col Solare and Eroica, before leaving to start his own winery, Long Shadows Vintners in 2002. Allen died in his home of natural causes on November 7, 2022 at the age of 79.

I have had the great pleasure to interview this incredible man a few years back. His wit and intelligence were second to none. Allen was kind, pragmatic and an incredible innovator in our industry. He will be greatly be missed. Cheers to you, Allen, and your incredible life accomplishments.
