A Napa property that has terroir at heart, Fe (pronounced FEE) is the atomic symbol for iron, the mineral you will notice throughout the soils of their Spring Mountain Vineyard. It is quite remarkable that seven years of viticulture went into the first vintage of Fe Wines. This location sees a good amount of fog to moderate the summer heat.
Aaron Pott, a fellow Arsenal supporter, achieved his undergraduate degree at University of California, Davis, and later a master’s degree in Viticulture, Wine, and Terroir from the Université de Bourgogne. He served as winemaker at famed property Château Troplong Mondot and also director of Château La Tour Figeac before coming to Napa. His namesake wines are also incredible.
Fe Wines have two wines in their collection — a near 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from their estate site on Spring Mountain. I am enamored with the richness and finesse in the inky colored 2019 Fe Wines Cabernet Sauvignon (OB, 97) which has easily another two decades in front of it. Learn more about these gorgeous wines at https://www.fewines.com and here are the fantastic new 2019 releases by Fe Wines.
2019 Fe Wines Cabernet Sauvignon- The gorgeous and sinfully good 2019 Fe Wines Cabernet Sauvignon is mainly Cabernet Sauvignon (84%) with 10% Cabernet Franc and 6% Malbec. Graphite and boysenberry cordial flavors mingle with tar and pipe tobacco tones on the palate. Utterly seamless, this deftly walks the tightrope between power and finesse. Finishing very long, this outstanding new Cabernet Sauvignon will surely live on for two more decades to come. Drink 2022-2042- 97
