Bibi Graetz

Today we share the iconic wines of Bibi Graetz. Starting back in 2000 Graetz began his his winery with a small, 5-acre vineyard on this hillside in Fiesole. Since his first release 25 years ago Graetz has become one of Tuscany’s cult winemakers without having any formal training in winemaking. His famed Testamatta and Colore bottling have made him an international success as these wines have been revered by critics across the globe. Today Bibi source’s from old vines in Tuscany as well as old vines from the Isola del Giglio which is a remote island that has ancient indigenous vines planted. His wines are crafted from traditional varieties of Sangiovese, Colorino, and Canaiolo for the reds and the indigenous varieties of Ansonica and Vermentino for his whites wines.

I adored the new wines from the 2024 vintage. Do not miss out on the 2024 Bibi Graetz ‘Testamatta’ Red Wine (OB, 96) which has massive cellaring potential. Having recently opened a 1.5L of the 2020, I can see this beauty cellaring for decades. Learn more about these gorgeous new wines at http://www.bibigraetz.com Here are the incredible new release wines by Bibi Graetz.

2025 Bibi Graetz ‘Testamatta Bianco’ White Wine- The 2024 Bibi Graetz ‘Testamatta Bianco’ White Wine is a blend Ansonica, Trebbiano, and Vermentino. It offers honesuckle and green melon on the nose alongside nutty nuances. The palate is rich and robust with serious stuffing and mouth-watering acidity. A glorious, sleek wine to consume now, watch this evolve over the next ten plus years to come. Drink 2026-2036- 95

2024 Bibi Graetz ‘Soffocone di Vincigliata’ Sangiovese- The 22024 Bibi Graetz ‘Soffocone di Vincigliata’ Sangiovese is soft and approachable stuff that is drinking marvelously in its youth. Bright red currants and orange zest mingle well with salty and stony soils on the palate. Neatly-textured, enjoy now and over the next eight years. Drink 2026-2034- 92

2024 Bibi Graetz ‘Testamata’ Red Wine- The 2024 Bibi Graetz ‘Testamata’ Red Wine is a gorgeous IGT that is all old vine Sangiovese from high elevation, north-facing vineyards. It immediately gratifies with its velvety mouthfeel. This is a powerful, very seamless ‘Testamatta’ with a glorious core of red fruits alongside blood orange zest and salty soil nuances. So good to enjoy now, be sure to give this at least an hour in the decanter if consuming now. Drink 2026-2042- 96

2024 Bibi Graetz ‘Colore’ Red Wine- another year, another stunning ‘Colore’ with this edition coming from 2024. It delivers heady aromatics of smoked meats, white pepper dusted black fruits, tar and tobacco leaf that all take shape in the glass. The palate is dense and lush with a terrific acid backbone. Seriously good now in its full-throttle youth, enjoy now and over the next fifteen to twenty years to come. Drink 2026-2044- 99

2024 Bibi Graetz ‘Balocchi No. 7’ Cabernet Franc- A truly unique Cabernet Franc bottling, the 2024 Bibi Graetz ‘Balocchi No. 7’ is a stunning wine with serious aging potential. Once on the nose this takes on pretty red florals that combine with oud, roasted fennel and shades of black licorice. The palate is plush with a smooth mouthfeel and generous sense of weight and length. A glorious, one of a kind Tuscan wine that you won’t really see from anyone else, watch this evolve over the next fifteen to twenty years. This needs at least two hours in the decanter if savoring now. Drink 2026-2044- 99
